S. Renee

S. Renee is the daughter of William J. & Rev. Shirley M. Smith and serves as Chair of the Board. Prior to the development of the board, with the assistance of her siblings, nieces and nephews and their children, she led the July 24, 2010 launch  of the William J. & Shirley M. Smith Scholarship Fund. Through her leadership, in 6 weeks, $16,000 was raised and the fund had nearly100 donors.


By occupation, S. Renee is a speaker, author and media expert in self empowerment and brand development (www.srenee.com). She has spoken at national and international conferences reaching 10 of thousands of people. In acknowledgement of inspiring thousands nationally and internationally, Mayor Byron W. Brown of Buffalo, NY declared July 17, 2010— S. Renee Smith Day.


In addition, in 2011 Delaware Today Magazine named her one of Delaware's influential women in business and one of Delaware’s black leaders in 2010. In 2002, she appeared on the cover of that same magazine as one of 40 under 40 to watch. In 2006, she received the Distinguish Alumni Award from the National Association for Equal Opportunity.


Graduating cum laude in only three years from DSU, S. Renee is actively involved throughout the state. She serves on the advisory board of the Delaware Community Foundation in Kent County.  In 2009, as the keynote speaker, S. Renee attracted a record-breaking crowd to the city of Dover Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. She was a corporate sponsor and was personally engaged with bringing messages of self empowerment to prevent teenage pregnancy and domestic violence to young adults.


She a “founding member” for the Fund for Women and 2005-2008, she actively served on the board of Girls Inc of DE. In 2003 she was appointed by the mayor of the city of Dover to serve on the Delaware Development Corporation. She served until a new mayor was elected in 2005.  


S. Renee is the only African American accepted as a fellow into the 2010 Leadership Delaware program where she was groomed by state and national leaders on business, politics, education and other social issues. She successfully completed the year long program.
 

 

Presbitero JenkinsPresbitero Jenkins, MBA, PHR Presbitero Jenkins is an independent consultant and currently the Sr. Human Resources Manager for King & Prince Seafood Corporation.  Pres is a Human Resources Generalist with over 20 years of experience.  His expertise lies in managing employee relations issues while promoting organizational change.  Pres has been successful in developing self sustaining systems, policies and procedures for fortune 500 companies.


Throughout his career, Pres main focus has been in the area of fair and consistent implementation of company policy and compliance with Federal and State Labor Laws.  He has worked in several states throughout the United States in both union and non-union environments. 


Also, Pres has extensive experience in the area of ethics and diversity training. “The success of every organization depends greatly to the extent that employees feel engaged and empowered…………”


Pres serves on the Community Investment Board for the United Way of Coastal Georgia and is also a
board member for the Golden Isles Society of Human Resources Chapter.


He holds a Bachelors of Science in Economics and a Masters degree in Business Administration from
Delaware State University.  In 2001, Pres earned his Professional Human Resources Certification from

the Society of Human Resources Management.  He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

 


 

Kevin Bacot

Kevin Bacot is an experienced, savvy and certified business professional in Human Resources. With a keen eye for talent, Kevin is a  Lead Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning Consultant for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) also known as Delmarva Power. Prior to joining, PHI, Kevin worked for CBI Group as a Recruitment Consultant providing recruitment strategies for clients throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. Prior to retiring from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, Kevin spent his last four as a recruiter of physicians for the Air Force. His ability to be effective and results driven led him to be among the top recruiters in the country. He spent a decade working as a skilled aircraft technician working on F-4, F-16, A-10 and C-5 ’s.  

 

Passionate about people and community, he has volunteered his time to support Easter Seals, American Heart Association, Junior Achievement, and many more fundraising activities. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education & Development from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Ill.  He is currently pursuing his MBA through Wilmington University with plans to graduate in 2013. Kevin lives in Claymont DE. He enjoys golfing in his spare time. He has two children.

     


     

    Jakeem Smith

    Jakeem C. Smith is a board member in training. He’s the grandson of William J. & Rev. Shirley M. Smith. He has a passion and compassion for people and their life stories. An encourager by nature and a photographer by choice, he moved to Atlanta to pursue his dreams of becoming a photographer. His most recent community service project included travelling to six states taking pictures to assist with fundraising for breast cancer research.

     

    A photographer at celebrity events, he brings to the board his artistic talents, insightful and photographic experiences with a ambition and desire to assist in making the scholarship fund a success.
